As usual, the Nittany Lion presence could be felt throughout the event. Penn State and Cancer Tribute banners waved proudly from our sky box. Members of our team were everywhere – Stacey Silvers making certain survivors were honored, Dawn Filandro leading the kick boxing demonstration, India Vale and Anne Kauffman proudly walking the Survivors’ lap, and Olivia Filandro, Morgan Silvers, Erika Addison, and Brendan Walsh leading the way for the Children’s Walk on Saturday morning.
Kathy West, Michelle Fitzgerald, and a group of Chapter members covered our skybox in blue and white. The Addison and Filandro families made certain there was enough food for an army of relayers, and our Penn State banner, filled with the names of more than 90 friends and family who have battled the disease, waved proudly throughout the night.
A huge thank you to our whole team: Captain Anne Kauffman, Mark, Gretchen, and Erika Addison, Jim Fath, Dawn and Olivia Filandro, Michelle Kramer-Fitzgerald, Bill Kauffman, Amy Maracle, Francine Poel, Linda Renninger, Stacey and Morgan Silvers, India and Jessica Vale, Patrick, Lori, and Brendan Walsh.
The relay is a great way to demonstrate what Penn State spirit is all about – working and contributing to a very worthwhile cause and having fun as well. We know this year will bring just as strong an effort.
WE ARE – PENN STATE!
